Programme Manager

As the Programme Manager you will ensure the successful delivery of multiple, concurrent projects within the scope of a major global business programme. You will advise the leadership team and executives on the programme status and resource planning to ensure successful delivery of the programme strategy.

As the Programme Manager you must be able to cooperate with all teams and remain objective regarding his/her own responsibilities.

You will maintain excellent communication with management and the project teams across the organisation, and lead the programme in a mature and focused manner. You will have strong organisational skills and have the confidence to challenge stakeholders where necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with key stakeholders across the programme including senior managers and executives; proactively disseminating project information to all key stakeholders.
  • Managing the effective governance of the programme; chairing the Programme Board and other responsibilities and reporting arrangements in line with the overall project management framework.
  • Working with key stakeholders and other project managers within the organisation to establish overall project plan, milestones and timelines
  • Oversee the delivery of all projects and work-streams within the teams and monitor each project’s health to ensure they are all progressing as appropriate.
  • Maintain a cross-project view and manage the overall programme business case to keep the programme within budget and where this is not possible, renegotiate the budget with the programme sponsor.
  • Capturing and actively managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and decisions in an organised, structured and coherent way, escalating risks where necessary.
  • Resolve issues when raised on projects through the programme board.
  • Ensure that the projects deliver the promised functionality to agreed quality standards.
  • Create and maintain programme related documentation including project plans

Requirements

  • Significant years of experience (5+ years) in project and programme management in a software, technology or other fast-paced development environment
  • Proven experience of working with globally distributed teams and stakeholders
  • Proven track record in successfully managing and leading projects and programmes on a global basis or spanning across multiple departments & clients
  • Personable character and an exceptional communicator – ability to communicate effectively at the highest level both written and verbal
  • Highly organised – proven ability to proactively manage time effectively when handling multiple simultaneous projects
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, as well as 3rd party vendors & suppliers
  • Strong facilitation, presentation & stakeholder management skills
  • Willingness to travel on an ad hoc basis, as required
  • An understanding and appreciation of how to lead and manage change
  • Project Management qualification preferred (PMI, Prince 2, ITL)
  • Proven ability to prioritise based upon changing commercial pressures
  • Fluent in English
